the northland's premier competition for young musicians

Northland Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that the revamped Young Artist Competition is back for another year! This competition represents a complete rethink of one of the Northland Symphony's oldest traditions and core principles - providing performing opportunities for student musicians in our area.

This year, musicians will have the chance to compete for a grand prize of $2,500 and the opportunity to perform with the Symphony in our 2019-20 Season. Second place will receive $1,000, and third place will receive $500

Currently, this competition is open to 9th, 10th and 11th grade students (at the time of their audition) from Clay, Platte, and Jackson counties in Missouri and NEW THIS YEAR, Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Auditions will take place on May 18th at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church. Applications must be received by April 30th, 2019.
